A converted Boeing 747-400 plane known as the Supertanker was filmed dropping water on wildfires in Bolivia's department of Santa Cruz on Friday. The US-based aircraft with a crew of 14 was hired by the Bolivian government.

The plane is the largest firefighting air tanker in the world with a capacity to drop over 74,000 liters of water per mission.

A record number of fires have been raging through the Amazon rainforest most of which is located in Brazil but which also stretches into Bolivia and several other countries. International pressure has been growing on governments in the region to tackle the fires in the forest producing about 20% of earth's oxygen.
