The Jewish community presented its first cryptocurrency in Moscow on Thursday with one unit on sale for $1 (€ 0.85).

The so-called first Jewish blockchain system, dubbed BitCoen, is set to boost the economy within the Jewish community across the world as well as strengthen bonds between its members.

"There are only 100 millions of bens, and no one, including members of our community, can make more bens. This is what guarantees their value for ages," said co-founder and CEO Vyacheslav Semenchuk.

"Jewish business can find the customer on a one-window basis and the customer can then buy from businesses all around the world," he added.

The project's founders argue that their blockchain fully complies with law and is consistent with the Jewish moral norms and can also be used for collecting money for charity.

The kosher food company "King David" was among the first to back the new Jewish cryptocurrency.
