Hundreds of anti-racism campaigners gathered in St Paul on Sunday to protest against police brutality, in the light of the recent sentencing of ex-police officer Kim Potter and the killing of Amir Locke by police.

"I'm not going to talk too much about it because I get angry and upset when I think about it, because I know that she (Kim Potter) knows the difference between a taser and a gun. I know that, it's called the art of the cover-up," said one protester during a speech at the rally.

Potter was sentenced to two years in jail by a Minnesota court on Friday, after being found guilty of first and second degree manslaughter earlier in December, for the death of the 20-year-old Duante Wright.

The former police officer killed Wright after mistakenly using a gun instead of a taser during a traffic stop operation in April 2021.

The 22-year old Locke was shot dead by police in Minneapolis on February 2, after a SWAT team raided his home without notice. Police had been searching for Locke's cousin, who was later arrested.
