Thousands of people gathered in front of the Belgrade City Assembly on Tuesday night to welcome and celebrate Serbian Olympic athletes returning from Tokyo with medals.

"I am very proud of these guys who, despite everything, health problems, the coronavirus, went to the Olympics and represented our country. We feel great," said Aleksandar, a fan amid the crowd.

Serbia won nine medals during the Olympic Games in Tokyo, including three gold, one silver, and five bronze medals. The gold medal winners, including players from the Waterpolo team, karate's athlete Jovana Prekovic, taekwondo's athlete Milica Mandic, greeted their fans from the building's terrace.
