Archive footage features rare and innovative Soviet vehicles carrying passengers in the skies, on land and across water.

The world's largest aircraft of the 1930s, the Tupolev ANT-20 Maxim Gorky eight engine plane, can be seen. Built in 1933-34, it is shown both inside and out.

Footage also shows the Antonov An-22 'Antei' heavy military transport aircraft from the 1960s. It was powered by four turboprop engines and remains the world's largest aircraft of its kind. The An-22 can be seen landing, with several passenger buses being unloaded from its hold.

Various boats designed with the use of hydrofoil technology - lifting the craft out of the water - and hovercraft can be seen carrying passengers, as well as a number of snowmobiles.

The footage also features an amphibious bicycle designed by a physical education instructor from Moscow. Its rider can be seen cycling on land, attaching its buoyancy devices and riding off into a body of water.

This archive footage is released as part of the '100 Key Events in Russia in the 20th and 21st Centuries', a project with the Russian State Documentary Film and Photo Archive (rgakfd.ru).
