Blazheev spoke on the comparative study made by the WADA on the laboratory information management system (LIMS) database and the data set received from the former head of Russia's anti-doping agency RUSADA and key whistle-blower Grigory Rodchenkov.
Blazheev pointed out that although Rodchenkov took the database from Russia “illegally,” it was considered to be a “benchmark.” Blazhhev also highlighted that the database was “at the informant’s disposal” after he left Russia for more than a year.
“Furthermore, up until 2016 some entered this data bank from the abroad 400 times. It’s a fact. WADA ignores it. It is only interested in enters made between the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2019. This shows the biased nature, biased approach to these materials,” he concluded.
The agency claims it found no traces of interference with the LIMS after November 2015 when Rodchenkov left Russia and became WADA’s main informant in the case against the country.
Speaking about some data missing in the LIMS, Blazheev said that “some reduplicative files were deleted in order to keep this data bank working” and “something was maybe deleted by mistake.”
Blazheev went on to comment on the so-called “raw files” that have been provided to the WADA too. WADA allegedly did not take it into consideration, although “there are original data” which is saved automatically, whereas the LIMS database contains files which demands a person to be saved.
The Russian team faces a ban from the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics following the investigation held into the database from the Moscow anti-doping lab handed to the WADA in January. WADA’s Executive Committee is to release its decision on 9 December.
