On Tuesday, Hong Kong marked one year since the eruption of protests over the extradition bill to mainland China. Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam marked the occasion saying the city could not afford more "chaos".

"Over the past year, Hong Kong faced many difficulties, and this is clear for all to see... that Hong Kong cannot bear that kind of chaos, and that the people of Hong Kong want a stable and peaceful environment," said Lam addressing a press briefing.

"Everyone has to learn their lesson, including the Hong Kong government, and I hope the members of the Legislative Council will learn their lesson," she added.

Hong Kong was rocked by protests which erupted over a now-withdrawn bill that demanded people to be extradited to mainland China.
