Residents of Hong Kong voiced their opinions on the last lifting of COVID-19 restrictions on Sunday, as from January 30, quarantines will not be mandatory anymore for positive patients.

"Actually I was quite worried about it. Because for those people who are positive, they can now come out on the street, also working together in the same atmosphere", said a resident. "But I think that would be the new normal because everywhere around the world is also like that", she added.

Another resident, a student, said he was 'happy' about the changes. "I think it's a great change to Hong Kong, as the entire world has begun to reduce COVID measures, and I think this will put us in the same place where the rest world is. Over time I really hope we get to remove masks like in other places", he said.

On January 18, the government of Hong Kong announced that starting in February, citizens who test positive for COVID can skip isolation and return to their workplaces normally.

The measure follows the new Chinese COIVD policy, as the Asian country started dropping restrictions in the last weeks after years of strict control of the pandemic.
