Demonstrators gathered in Dallas on Tuesday evening to protest the killing of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old Black man who was shot by the police in Minnesota.

Activists could be seen showing chanting Wright's name, holding guns and showing signs.

The Black Lives Matter protest marched down Botham Jean Boulevard, a street renamed last month after another African-American man shot by a police officer in Dallas in 2018.

Daunte Wright was killed on Sunday after being pulled over for a traffic violation and there was a struggle while he was trying to get back into his car. Wright was shot by officer Kim Potter and was later pronounced dead after he crashed his car several streets away after driving away from the scene of the shooting.

Potter, a 26-year veteran of the Brooklyn Center Police Department subsequently announced her

resignation on Tuesday, as did police chief Tim Gannon.

A police statement released on Monday said the incident was an accident, as the officer intended to use a taser, not a gun, on Wright.
