Dozens of climate activists and supporters of ‘Defund Climate Chaos’ action day rallied outside Lloyd’s of London headquarters on Friday, as a series of actions ahead of COP26 talks starting in Glasgow on October 31.
Protesters gathered around flower wreaths spelling out messages as ‘Rise, remember, resist,’ and held banners decrying companies that, according to them, funded the climate crisis.
While delivering a speech, one protester stated, “Lloyd’s of London has a reputation for getting high-risk projects ensured that other insurance project companies wouldn’t touch. They are putting profits before life on earth and ensuring climate break down.“
Members of ‘Extinction Rebellion’ were also present, holding signs against the currently in construction Silvertown Tunnel, which has attracted opponents stating it will increase air pollutions and traffic levels.
