A group of Yellow Vest demonstrators gathered in Saint-Denis, northern Paris, on Saturday, for the 23rd consecutive weekend of protests against President Emmanuel Macron's administration.

As it was the first march since Notre-Dame fire, many protesters expressed sadness over the tragedy.

However, they critically reacted to the billionaires' donations to repair the burnt monument, saying that it was not the only problem the country needs to solve.

One protester slammed the donations, describing them as 'tax evasion.'

After rallying at the Basilica of Saint-Denis, one of France's most important cultural landmarks, the demonstrators marched through the capital towards the Jussieu University on left bank of the river Seine.

They carried a huge banner reading "Victor Hugo thanks you for 'Notre-Dame de Paris'! Don't forget 'Les Miserables'!"
