Bolivia's President Evo Morales called for a new presidential election during a press conference in El Alto on Sunday.
"I have decided to call for new national elections that, through the vote, will allow the Bolivian people to democratically elect their new authorities, incorporating new political actors," Morales said.
In addition, the president announced his decision to "renew all the members of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal," and confirmed that “in the following hours the Plurinational Legislative Assembly, in an agreement with all the political forces, will establish the procedures for this."
Earlier the Organisation of American States (OAS), through a statement published on its website, urged the annulment of the results of the elections held in Bolivia on October 20 and demanded new elections, amid the tense situation that the Latin American country is experiencing.
