Houses, backyards, streets were affected by severe floods in Neukirch/Lausitz, in Saxony, as seen on Saturday.

"It actually started this afternoon that the Wesenitz rose more and more, then unfortunately it hit the bridge. First it hit the neighbours, then everything came in a torrent," said a local victim.

Locals and emergency services were seen helping with clean-up operations.

"All of a sudden, everything had to be cleared up very quickly, everything that could be put up had to be put up," she added.

Over 150 people were killed, and more than 1,000 have gone missing after flash floods hit parts of western Germany, while tens of thousands have been left without electricity.

Flooding has also affected Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
