A small group of Trump supporters gathered on Thursday outside the Capitol building in Washington DC in order to justify the "insurrection" on Wednesday.

"What happened at the Capitol was justified and it was a major turning point on American history. Anybody who is involved in it will go down in American history," said Trump supporter Mathew.

Another supporter, Marjorie, explained her reasoning behind the storming that took place.

"I think for the people, it was to say hey we are here, stop trying to say we do not exist, stop trying to say there are others who do not feel the same way we do because this is real, this is truth. The people wanted to make a stance and say we are here," she said.

Presidential-elect Joe Biden addressed the nation and Thursday and said the supporters who stormed the Capitol "weren't protesters, don't dare call them protesters. They were a riotous mob, insurrectionist, domestic terrorists."

The "entire White House" also sought to distance themselves from the incident. Press secretary Kayleigh McEnany made a statement from Washington DC on Thursday, saying, "we condemn it, the president and this administration, in the strongest possible terms. It is unacceptable. And those that broke the law should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Four people died and 52 were arrested following the storming of the US Capitol on Wednesday.
