Minneapolis was seen going back to normal Wednesday, the day after former police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murder in the death of George Floyd in May 2020.

"I feel good about the verdict yesterday. It was all in plain sight that the officer was wrong and I feel that the jury and everyone involved, they did a great job of convicting this individual," said one Minneapolis resident. "Now [there's] hope for that we move on to the Daunte Wright situation and that we try to just get everything equalised here in America."

Chauvin was found guilty on all counts including second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of George Floyd, a Black man who died after Chauvin kneeled on his neck and back for more than nine minutes.

Sentencing in this case is expected in around eight weeks, with Chauvin facing up to 75 years in prison.
