A Soyuz-2.1a rocket carrying the Progress MS-27 cargo spaceship to the International Space Station (ISS) launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome on Thursday.

Footage shows the rocket taking off from the launch pad, before the separation of its third stage and the unfolding of the solar panels for autonomous orbit of the Earth to the ISS.

According to the Roscosmos press service, all stages of the launch had been completed successfully. The docking of Progress MS-27 to the Russian segment of the ISS is scheduled for June 1.

Roscosmos stated that Progress MS-27 would deliver 2,500 kilograms of cargo for the crew of the 71st long-duration expedition. The launch of the rocket was the eighth in 2024, including the fourth from the Baikonur Cosmodrome and the second with a cargo module.

The Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket was constructed by the Progress Rocket Space Centre, while the Progress MS-27 spaceship was designed by the S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) Energia.
