Governor Alexander Moor announced the completion of efforts to widen the embankment along the Tyumen-Omsk highway on Wednesday, as the battle against the floods in Russia's Tyumen region continued.

Drone footage reveals the reinforced roadway and the swelling river in the Abatsky district.

"The flood situation in the Tyumen region is still tough. Today, the water level in the Ishim River in the Abatsky district is actively rising. Over the past 24 hours, it has practically increased by one and a half metres. Today the water in Abatskoye settlement will reach the dangerous level of 960 centimetres," Governor Moor stated.

He also mentioned that out of 22 vulnerable settlements in the Abatsky district, five have already been fully evacuated. A specialised team has been deployed to tackle the flooding situation.

"Now in Abatsky district the big group of forces and means is formed, which consists of EMERCOM employees, police officers, employees of road services, volunteers - in total more than 750 people. The necessary stock of sandbags is prepared," Moore added.

Flooding was reported in 39 regions of Russia, with the Altai region in Siberia, and Tyumen, Orenburg and Kurgan regions in Southern Urals under a state of emergency.
