Russian cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov showed off a special pre-Christmas delivery aboard the International Space Station; a care package from his family which arrived aboard the Progress MS-25 cargo carft.

Exclusive footage taken on Monday shows him unpacking spices, salad dressings, dried squid, nuts, seeds and sweets.

"There is plenty of caramel, enough for months. And of course the classic, delicious dark chocolate is my favourite, my favourite varieties. Thanks so much to my family," he said.

Borisov added that the fresh oranges he received were a particular treat.

"It seems like such an ordinary thing, simply an orange that you can buy in the shop. But what does a person need to be happy? Take away fresh fruit and vegetables from him for 100 days and then give him five fresh oranges," he said. "It smells really good, juicy, sweet, a real citrus fruit. Well, we certainly miss fresh fruit and vegetables."

He explained each crew member's family can send a five-kilogram parcel to the ISS, with the contents planned months in advance.

"Sometime in September we discussed what we would like to get in December. So it's like going to the shop in advance <...> I will space the products over several weeks because the next load doesn’t arrive until February," Borisov added.

Borisov arrived at the ISS aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon with the Crew-7 expedition on August 27.

The crew also included NASA astronaut and Crew-7 commander Jasmin Moghbeli, European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Andreas Mogensen and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Satoshi Furukawa.

Borisov is the third Russian cosmonaut to travel to the ISS aboard a SpaceX rocket, after Anna Kikina and Andrey Fedyaev, who arrived at the station in October 2022 and March 2023 respectively.
