On Saturday, March 16, employees of the Moscow Zoo arranged a feast for Ruyi, Dindin and cub Katyusha, in honour of International Panda Day.
Footage shows the fluffy family enjoying a meal of bamboo treats as Ruyi, Ding Ding and her daughter chow down on the desserts. A second video released on Tuesday shows panda cub Katyusha practicing her climbing skills.
"Ding Ding and Katyusha received a bamboo toy in the shape of a panda as a gift, a doll of sorts for Katyusha. Just as Ruyi once received a toy car and Ding Ding received a big doll in a dress," the zoo’s general director Svetlana Akulova posted via Telegram.
International Panda Day is celebrated on March 16 to promote and preserve the unique animal species.
'Katyusha' was born in August last year and was named after the popular Russian folk song, in a public vote on Moscow city's online portal.
Katyusha's parents Ding Ding and Ruyi were brought to Moscow from Beijing in 2019.
Their home, the 'Chinese Fauna' pavilion at Moscow Zoo, was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and China's Xi Jinping.
Giant pandas, native to China, are a symbol of conservation efforts worldwide. Ding Ding and Ruyi are part of a scientific initiative aimed at preserving and breeding the rare species.
