Description

Civil Defence workers in Karak, in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, on Thursday recovered the bodies of six people who were killed in an Israeli airstrike. According to Lebanon's National News Agency, the total number of deaths in the region as a result of the IDF's Northern Arrows operation has risen to 13, with six more injured.

Footage shows the destroyed houses following the attack, as well as bulldozers removing rubble as part of the efforts to search for the missing.

“We are witnessing the same massacres and genocides that have been perpetrated in Gaza. Dozens of civilians, mostly women and children, we suddenly killed while they were in their home. What is the point? Massacring civilians? Is that a message Israel wants to convey?" said Mamdouh Shoail, a local. "This is not strange for Israel. All the victims who were murdered in that house were civilians. Nine people were killed, 13 injured, and there are still missing victims under the rubble."

‘Air Force warplanes, under the direction of the Northern Command, have carried out strikes on dozens of terrorist targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organisation on Lebanese soil in recent hours,’ the Israeli army announced on Thursday.

Last Monday, the Israeli army launched intensive raids on large areas of Lebanon as part of ‘Operation Northern Arrows.’

The Israeli military began 'Operation Northern Arrows' on Monday, with airstrikes on Hezbollah locations. Over 600 people have been killed in total and more than 2,000 injured at time of publication, according to Lebanon. Hezbollah has also launched rocket strikes into northern Israel.

Israeli Chief of the General Staff Herzi Halevi told troops on Wednesday that the strikes were "both to prepare the ground for your possible entry and to continue degrading Hezbollah", hinting at a potential ground invasion.

Tensions in southern Lebanon have escalated over the past week, following mass pager and handheld radio explosions, which Hezbollah blamed on Israel. The IDF did not comment.

Hezbollah and Israeli forces have been exchanging cross border fire since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza in October 2023.
