Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez signed an intergovernmental agreement regarding the provision of real estate in Moscow to house the Cuban embassy, after meeting on the margins of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.

Footage shows the diplomats shaking hands before signing the documents and sitting down at the negotiating table.

The Russian Foreign Ministry's press service reported that the sides discussed the need to remove Cuba from the US list of 'state sponsors of terrorism' and to end the trade and economic blockade.

Lavrov arrived in New York on Wednesday to take part in events at the UN General Assembly. The minister is also scheduled to attend several bilateral and multilateral meetings, including those of the CSTO, BRICS, G20 and the Group of Friends for the Defence of the UN Charter.
