The shooting reportedly happened at around midday on the sidewalk outside South Education Center, an alternative school for students between pre-K and 21 years old.
The victim was identified as the son of Cortez Rice, a Black Lives Matter activist who was jailed on charges of intimidating the judge presiding over the trial of Kim Potter, who was found guilty of manslaughter, in December, in the killing Daunte Wright, according to a friend of the Wright family who was at the scene with Daunte's brother, Damik Wright.
According to local media, no arrest has yet been made in relation to the shooting.
