Biden saluted while Harris held her hand over her heart as a military band played the national anthem. They then walked towards the wreath and bowed their heads for a few moments of reflection.
Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton together with their spouses also attended the ceremony, Donald Trump and former first lady Melania were however absent having left for Florida before the inauguration ceremony.
