Hong Kong police arrested dozens of demonstrators who were protesting against 'Chinese parallel traders' in Hong Kong on Sunday.

Footage shows police armed with pepper spray and batons intervening against the protesters, causing scuffles.

Demonstrators took aim at 'parallel traders' that buy goods from Hong Kong and sell them at profit in mainland China, reportedly leading to a boost in prices.

A resident, Tang, said that they "only get parallel shops and pharmacies here in Sheung Shui" and that "many owners increase the rent of their shops and then rent to the pharmacy shop or the parallel shops."

"As we live here, [it is] causing a lot of inconvenience to our daily lives. I hope more people will pay attention to the issue and that the government can do something for us."

Hong Kong has been rocked by more than six months of anti-government protests triggered by the now-withdrawn extradition bill. The rallies have since evolved into a wider movement against the government, marked by violent clashes between protesters and police.
