Large crowds of protesters amongst whom many BLM activists gathered outside Brooklyn Center police station on Wednesday, to express their dissatisfaction with the second-degree manslaughter charge against Kim Potter, the officer who fatally shot Daunte Wright.

Protesters were holding Black Lives Matter banners and could be heard chanting Wright's name.

Protests started after Wright, a 20-year-old Black man, was shot during a traffic stop on Sunday. According to police, Potter intended to use a taser but mistakenly pulled her gun.

She has since resigned and has been charged with second-degree manslaughter.

"We need to see some murder charges," said Nekima Levy Armstrong, a lawyer and activist. "But I did take satisfaction in seeing Kim Potter's mug shot on social media today."

"We've got the city manager fired and the police chief thought he was going to stick around. He even left on his own. He was ready to get the hell out. He's out," said Jaylani Hussein, executive director of CAIR-Minnesota, an anti-racism association.

Brooklyn Center is right outside Minneapolis where tensions were already high amid the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former police officer charged with killing George Floyd.
