"As a Chinese [person], I am indignant about it. I think unification is the progress of history. The progress is still going on. I am surprised about her trip but I think it will effect the unification of Taiwan and the mainland" said a local, Mr Li.
"U.S. and Japan deliberately hit the other countries. In the era of Chairman Mao, we are called the people of the world. The world was stable and the country don’t bully others. If some country bullies us, we need to hit them back," another local added.
Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taipei came despite strong objections from Beijing, who summoned the US ambassador on Wednesday. China announced a series of military drills around Taiwan, while the US also increased its military presence, moving the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan closer to the island’s waters.
