The police released the first results of an autopsy of the two women who were found dead in Wittingen, Lower Saxony, Tuesday.

Police Spokesperson in Gifhorn Thomas Reuter said that the autopsy shows that "there is no indication or signs of violence on the bodies," which he said "means that external violence is out of the question."

Commenting on the cause of the women's death, Reuter said that "there is no possibility of a third-party offender who could have used violence against the two women."

On Sunday, a 53-year-old man, a 33-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman were found dead from crossbow wounds in a hotel room in the Bavarian town of Passau, over 600 km away. One of the women found dead in Passau was reportedly a 30-year-old woman who lived in Wittingen. It was when the police went to her flat in Wittingen that they discovered the two further corpses. It is unclear how these incidents are connected.
