٠٠:٠١:٣٠Norway women's national football team manager Martin Sjogren told journalists in Le Havre on Wednesday that he did not expect to see European dominance at the quarter-finals stage of the 2019 Women's World Cup. Seven out of eight participants in the quarter-finals are from Europe.
"Usually the continent that organises the competition has a lot of teams, but it was hard to think that there would be such European dominance [in the tournament]," said Sjogren, speaking at a press conference ahead of his team's quarter-final against England.
"The development of football happened for the first time in Europe, and regarding these big clubs there have a lot of investment and a lot of developments, and these developments in football in Europe produce results and we see them now. Football has become more professional," he said.
Norway is due to play against England at Le Havre's Ocean Stadium on Thursday. The kick off is set at 20:00 GMT.
