Hundreds of people attended the funeral of 20-year-old Daunte Wright in Minneapolis on Thursday, 11 days after he was killed by police during a traffic stop.

Mourners wearing COVID-19 masks were seen attending the service inside Shiloh Temple International Ministries.

Civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy, saying "we come from all over the country because you hurt one of our princes." "You thought we was just some kid with air freshener. He was a prince."

"The roles should completely be reversed, my son should be burying me," Wright's mother Katie said. "When he walked in the room he lit up the room. He was a brother, a jokester, he was loved by so many."

Among those attending the funeral were Valerie Castile, whose son Philando Castile was fatally shot by a police officer during a traffic stop in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area in 2016, and Gwen Carr, the mother of Eric Garner, who was filmed repeating 'I can't breathe' during a deadly 2014 encounter with New York City police.

Wright was fatally shot by officer Kim Potter after being pulled over by law enforcement on April 11.

Potter, a 26-year veteran of the Brooklyn Center Police Department subsequently announced her resignation, as did police chief Tim Gannon.

Potter has since been charged with second-degree manslaughter, though protesters continue to demand murder charges be brought against her. City officials have imposed a curfew after several nights of protests.
