Locals in Schwerin, the state capital of Mecklenburg Vorpommern, commented on the upcoming election, the end of Angela Merkel’s time as chancellor, and the Nord Stream 2 project on Saturday.

In the city’s central Marienplatz, volunteers and representatives of Germany’s major parties were also seen canvassing for support ahead of Sunday’s election​.

The end land station of the Nord Stream 2 project could also be seen in the town of Lubmin.

According to the latest polling by the Forsa Institute on Friday, the SPD were in the lead with 25 percent of those surveyed, with the CDU and its sister party the Christian Social Union (CSU) at 22 percent, with Greens in third on 17 percent, and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) in fourth on 12.
