Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met with Libyan National Army (LNA) General Khalifa Haftar in Cairo on Thursday, for the second time in roughly a month.

The Cairo meeting, which was held at the presidential palace, comes as LNA forces and the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) continue to clash around the Libyan capital of Tripoli.

El-Sisi affirmed his support for the LNA's efforts to combat "terrorism and extremists," according to an Egyptian presidential statement.
