Daunte Wright's family and legal team held a press conference in Minneapolis on Thursday following the second-degree manslaughter charge brought against Kim Potter, the officer who fatally shot Wright on Sunday.

"Unfortunately, there is never going to be justice for us … Justice isn't even a word to me. I do want 100 percent accountability ... but even then, if that even happens, we are still going to bury our son," Daunte Wright's mother Katie Wright said during an emotional press briefing.

Wright, a 20-year-old Black man, was shot during a traffic stop on Sunday in Brooklyn Center. According to police, Potter intended to use a taser but mistakenly pulled her gun. Wright was later pronounced dead.

Potter, a 26-year veteran of the Brooklyn Center Police Department subsequently announced her resignation on Tuesday, as did police chief Tim Gannon.

Brooklyn Center is a suburb of Minneapolis, where tensions were already high amid the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former police officer charged with killing George Floyd. Intense protests have been taking place ever since.
