The footage shows participants carrying Indian and Russian flags, and talking excitedly before departing at the international airport.
Delegate Divyam Agarwal from Chattisgarh shared that more than 300 people would go to the festival to make new friends, exchange cultural experiences and share various ideas with young people from other countries of the world.
"I am looking forward to meeting new people, experiencing new religions, experiencing new delicacies and meeting different people. Because we have people from more than 180 countries who will be reaching to attend this festival and especially the youth, will have the connection with the youth, will exchange ideas, and will exchange technologies. So, it is an exchange of diverse possibilities I would say and it will always be a great opportunity to attend an event like this," Agarwa added.
Another festival participant Shivali Gupta from Delhi emphasised that such events helped like-minded people from different countries to connect with each other and find collective solutions to common world problems.
"I think it’s a great platform for all of us, probably, you know, all the youth to come together in one stage and unite and share ideas and philosophies about different countries, cultures and geopolitical ideas<...> We all can unite and really work together for collective issues which are very important for a goal to solve," Gupta said
In addition, a delegate from Mumbai, Dikshita Dutta, thanked the Russian and Indian governments for the opportunity to attend the event and said she was 'on cloud nine'.
The World Youth Festival will be held from 1-7 March 2024, to develop international youth co-operation and to bring together 20,000 young people. The regional programme will take place from 10-17 March 2024, during which the participants will visit 30 Russian cities.
