    A large pro-Palestine march takes place in London, starting at Russell Square and ending at Whitehall, on Saturday, October 5.

    Demonstrators are expected to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the end of the Israeli 'occupation' of Palestinian territories and a full arms embargo.

    It comes just days ahead of the one-year October 7 anniversary, which saw Hamas launch an unprecedented assault on southern Israel - and the start of Israel's campaign of airstrikes and ground incursion into Gaza.

    The escalation has recently spread to Lebanon, with Israeli airstrikes and a 'limited' ground incursion. Hezbollah continues to fire rockets into northern Israel, while Iran launched a wave of missile strikes on Israel on Tuesday.

    The British government has suspended around one third of arms export licenses to Israel amid concerns about potential violations of international law, which Israel strongly denies.
