Firefly Aerospace launches its first Blue Ghost mission - Ghost Riders in the Sky - from the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Wednesday, January 15.
The first commercial robotic Moon launch will deliver 10 science and technology instruments to the lunar surface as part of NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative in early 2025.
After completing its payload operations, the spacecraft will capture images of the lunar sunset and gather data on how the lunar regolith responds to solar effects during the transition to lunar dusk. The lander will continue its operations for several hours into the lunar night.
