NASA is set to launch SPHEREx, the agency’s newest space telescope, and PUNCH mission on SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Saturday, March 8 (Sunday, March 9, 02:15 GMT).
SPHEREx is the 'Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionisation, and Ices Explorer' while PUNCH is the 'Polarimeter to Unify the Corona and Heliosphere'.
The SPHEREx mission aims to enhance understanding of the universe's evolution and search for the essential ingredients for life within the galaxy. The four small spacecraft of the PUNCH mission will study the Sun's corona as it transitions into solar wind.
