Live from Istanbul as demonstrators continue to rally for the 12th consecutive day on Saturday, March 29, in response to the arrest of Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.
Imamoglu, a key opposition figure from the Republican People’s Party (CHP), was detained on March 18 alongside over 100 others on charges of corruption and alleged ties to terrorist groups.
Despite the protest ban imposed by the authorities, crowds have gathered nightly with clashes erupting.
Imamoglu denies the charges, with his arrest coming just days before he was expected to announce his 2028 presidential bid.
