The 'Holy Fire' from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem arrives at Moscow's Vnukovo-3 airport aboard a special flight on Saturday, April 19.
The fire is transported in a special capsule by a delegation from the Foundation of St Andrew the First-Called. It will be delivered to the Easter Service at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow, as well as to churches in other regions of the country.
The Holy Fire descends at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem during the Holy Saturday service. It is believed to miraculously ignite from the tomb of Christ. After the descent, the fire is divided and distributed to Orthodox countries, including Russia, where it is used in Easter celebrations.
