Description

US Former President Donald Trump arrived at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on Sunday to head to Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention, a day after surviving an assassination attempt.

The conference will be held as planned despite Saturday evening’s shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Trump was shot to his right ear when he was delivering his speech in the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday. As rows of shots fired, the candidate ducked behind his lectern and was surrounded by bodyguards before being taken out of the venue, while raising his fist into the air.

The alleged gunman was killed by the US Secret Service agents. Another attendee was also reported dead in the rally, with two others in critical condition.

Law enforcement authorities have named the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks but says they are still investigating his motive behind the attack, according to media reports. The case is currently being investigated as a possible assassination attempt.

President Joe Biden called the shooting 'sick', while also saying that he had 'tried to get a hold of Donald.' Other US politicians like former president Barack Obama and Secretary of States Antony Blinken also condemned the violence.
