Former US President Donald Trump said he was 'very happy' about the endorsement by the 'vice president's family' - appearing to mean VP candidate Tim Walz - and claimed he won the debate against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris - during a campaign rally in Tucson on Thursday.

"I was very happy because I got the endorsement of the vice president's family and I got the endorsement of the vice president's brother and even sent me a contribution. And I was very happy because Barack Hussein Obama, his brother, as you know, endorsed me. So no, his brother endorsed me," he claimed.

Malik Obama has endorsed the former president, while a photo released on social media featured a number of cousins of VP candidate Walz wearing T-shirts with the slogan 'Nebraska Walzs for Trump'. Walz's mother reportedly called them 'distant' relatives.

"Polls clearly show that I won the debate against comrade Kamala Harris," Trump continued. "She immediately called for a second debate, which means that she was like a prizefighter that lost a fight."

Both Trump and Harris claimed victory following the 90-minute debate on ABC News, while several instant local polls showed that the VP had outperformed Trump. Harris had instantly called for a 'rematch' in a rally in North Carolina, while Trump already announced that 'there would be no third debate' on a Truth Social post on Thursday.

"They were saying JD and I are weird. No, we're very solid people. She's weird. And that vice president of hers (Tim Walz) is really weird. He's really weird," said Trump.

"She went out and the people were applauding and stuff and she goes, "thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you." I think she went nuts. There was something wrong with her," Trump said.

During the rally, Trump also recalled the election of 2016, when he ran against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

"On the exit polls, so people are walking out, and they're saying, 'you know, I'd like to know something Sir, who did you vote for?' And they say, crooked Hillary or Trump, right? But so many of them, like almost 50 percent said, 'none of your business who we voted for'. They have a tougher word. Two words. Felt like Biden, one word and then he gives two. Two words. They begin with the letters F-U. F-U, I would never say, because we have a lot of young people here, my audience have got they've gotten younger and younger," he stated.

Trump will face off against Harris in the presidential election on November 5. Harris replaced incumbent Joe Biden as the democratic nominee after a slew of high-profile gaffes and a disastrous showing at the presidential debate in Atlanta led him to drop out of the race.

Trump described Harris's candidacy as a 'coup' against Biden after the current president insisted he was best placed to win in the days and weeks before he stepped aside.
