Description

Hundreds of Russian citizens voted in the country's presidential election at the Russian Embassy in Beijing on Sunday.

Footage shows voters lining up outside the embassy, entering the polling station, registering for the elections, and casting ballots. Members of the Cossack song ensemble and Aeroflot Airlines flight attendants could also be seen voting.

"For us, voting is the adequate positional choice. It is very important to have stability in our country, to have, most importantly, peace," A Russian tourist Irina Krivosheeva said.

Another voter, Svetlana Teplinskaya, expressed hope for the lack of 'drastic changes' and for the 'gradual but continuous' improvements.

Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov explained that voting outside the voting premises has been arranged for the construction workers building a nuclear power plant in Lianyungang city in eastern China.

"They have a continuous building process, so this decision has been made. Well, in this way, our compatriots in China have good opportunities to vote, to cast their vote in the Russian presidential election," diplomat concluded.

Russia's presidential election takes place over three days on March 15-17, with early voting between February 25 and March 14. Russian citizens in Beijing can vote from 8 am to 8 pm CST (12 am to 12 pm GMT) on March 17.

The four candidates are Leonid Slutsky of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), the Communist Party's Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov of the New People Party, and incumbent President Vladimir Putin, running as an independent candidate.
