According to reports, more than 1,000 residents had been evacuated from Ravenna, Bologna, and Faenza as a state of emergency was declared in Emilia Romagna and neighbouring Marche province with train service suspension in the affected areas.
No casualties were reported at the time of publishing.
Following the weather disaster, the Italian government approved an aid package of 20 million euros, including rescue and support for people and restoration of infrastructure and service functionality, according to the media.
