Description

Local monk and Shaolin Kung Fu martial artist Xiao Hai has made a name for himself in China's fitness industry with his exceptional strength and unique fitness methods.

Footage filmed in Suzhou on Thursday shows the martial artist showing off his balance, strength and flexibility skills in a park. He can be seen performing the 'human flag' trick, using his neck and chin to hang on a bar, performing handstand push-ups and holding a planchet plank in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

Xiao's fascination with martial arts and fitness began at a young age, when he spent his free time reading about martial arts masters and heroes - an activity that inspired him to start working out as a teenager.

"I saw that the masters in martial arts novels are very impressive, and because they are so powerful, I also wanted to learn the same kinds of moves they perform. I found their movements to be amazing, so I wanted to learn them as well," he added.

"The benefit is that it brings together martial arts and fitness in a unified way," the influencer continued. "[This allows] more people to practice martial arts or fitness together, starting from the basics. It all follows the same principles."

He explained that his daily basic training routine includes performing 300-500 push-ups, 200-300 pull-ups and 100-200 handstand push-ups.

"I want to spread a message encouraging more people, especially young individuals, to exercise and spend less time on their phones. Let's come together and join the fitness community!" Xiao explained.

Shaolin Kung Fu is a traditional Chinese martial art known for its deep connection with Zen Buddhism. Originating from the Shaolin Monastery, it's a form of self-defense that some believe is a path to personal development. The martial art combines physical exercise, mental focus and spiritual growth.
