The third edition of the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS 2024) kicked off in Abu Dhabi on Monday, focusing on the Middle East's journey towards sustainable transport.
The footage shows a large crowd inside the conference hall and a diverse range of visitors to the exhibition. Electronic cars and buses from various participating companies including TESLA, ADNOC, LUCID and TAM can be seen on display.
"Our vehicles are a technology marvel, basically getting the world’s most efficient cars on the road but also keeping it a very luxury offering in the same time right," said Faisal Sultan, a Vice President and Managing Director of Lucid Motors ME. "So this is what we want to do it really gets the efficiency and the sustainability but not at the price of having a product that is not appealing to the consumer".
"We do have a different range of products starting from EV vehicles, the luxury bus airport and the hydrogen bus as well," said Haya Sulaiman, Marketing Executive at Al Ghurair Investments.
According to media reports, the UAE's updated National Electric Vehicle Policy aims to reduce energy consumption in the transport sector by 20 per cent. By the end of 2023, 914 EV charging stations will be operational, with a target of 50 per cent electric vehicles by 2050.
The 2024 EVIS Exhibition and Conference, under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, was launched in front of a high-profile audience, including representatives from the private sector and related companies. The event will take place from 20 to 22 May.
