Hundreds of pro-Israel protesters rallied in Great Neck, New York, on Sunday amid the escalating unrest between Israel and Palestine and in the wake of anti-Semitic incidents in the US.

Demonstrators held Israeli and American flags and signs bearing messages such as 'Israel under attack' and 'Stop the hate.'

"My last message is to the enemies of the Jews. And I hope you can hear me, I hope you can hear us. The time for being quiet is over. Let's do it now. Scream and yell at your enemies. The vikings did not go into battle and say, 'we're gonna wage peace.' We are here to protect our friends and our families," rally organiser Regie Glumstein said.

"The people of Israel live. The American Jewish community and the American community are inextricably interwoven. The future of the Jews, in America, is the same as the future of America," local Robert Gould stated.

The demonstration was organised by local synagogues.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was agreed upon on Thursday with the mediation of Egypt after 11 days of escalation. The fighting led to 248 fatalities on the Palestinian side and 12 on the Israeli side, according to the respective authorities.
