٠٠:٠٤:١٠The first edition of Expo Syria 2024 kicked off at the Damascus Countryside Fairgrounds on Wednesday, drawing a turnout of 3,000 foreign businessmen and guests to invigorate the economy strained by sanctions.
Footage shows pavilions featuring food companies, along with exhibitions of clothing and textiles, all encompassing a substantial area of 50,000 square meters.
"The exhibition attracts a total of 600 businessmen within 600 pavilions displaying food, textile, engineering, pharmaceuticals and tourism industries," Eyad Mohammed, Head of the Chamber of the Main Export Committee of Syria's Federation and Chambers of Agriculture stated.
Raheem Hassan Sheikh Zini, Chairman of the Syrian-Iraqi Business Council, emphasised the council's efforts to attract Iraqi traders to Syria.
"The Syrian-Iraqi Business Council has sought to attract Iraqi traders to Syria in a bid to activate the Syrian product and get it back to Iraqi markets. Syrian clothes and food enjoy a good reputation among Iraqi consumers due to their high quality and both countries have the same taste," she said.
In a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the President of the Syrian Clothing and Textile Exporters Association, Rajid Halabi, mentioned that the event will run for five days, showcasing a wide range of products from different industries, including mechanics, textiles, food, and pharmaceuticals after years of war.
