Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met the US President Joe Biden to discuss his 'victory plan' aimed at pressing Russia to agree the diplomatic solution to the ongoing conflict in Washington DC on Thursday. Although he did not provide the details, he added that the leaders will coordinate their 'positions, views and approaches.'

"I raised with President Biden the 'plan of victory.' Today, we are preparing to discuss the details to strengthen the plan, coordinate our positions, views and approaches. Our teams will work together to ensure that implementation of our future steps," he stated. "Together we have to win, we will win."

According to the media, the next discussions between the two leaders will be held on October 12 during the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting.

Zelensky as well expressed gratitude for receiving $7.9 billion in security assistance. According to Biden's statement, Washington will allocate $5.5 billion to fund equipment, while another $2.4 billion will be spent on air defence, including unmanned aerial systems and air-to-ground munitions.

"This will be a great help," emphasised Zelensky during the meeting.

Biden also commented that Washington will continue to support Ukraine "in its path to membership to both the EU and to NATO."

"We launched the Ukraine Compact with more than 20 nations committed to Ukraine's long term security. And yesterday, with over 30 nations and the EU, we launched a joint declaration of support Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction. Some of it using Russian assets as well," explained Biden.

"Let me be clear. Russia will not prevail in war. Russia will not prevail. Ukraine will prevail and will continue to stand by you every step of the way," concluded Biden.

According to media reports, after the meeting with Biden, Zelensky held talks with Vice President Kamala Harris. In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Zelensky stated that he discussed with her the 'victory plan'.

Her Republican rival and former President Donald Trump, who repeatedly criticised US aid to Kiev, is expected to meet with the Ukrainian President in New York on Friday.
