Description

Dozens of Palestinian bodies, including children and women, reportedly arrived at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City on Saturday following an alleged Israeli shelling of the Al-Taabi'een school in the city's Al-Daraj neighbourhood.

Footage from the hospital shows grieving relatives saying their final goodbyes to their loved ones in body bags.

The Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) claimed that more than 100 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured during Fajr prayers on Saturday after an Israeli raid on a mosque attached to the Al-Taabi'een school sheltering displaced people in the Al-Daraj neighbourhood of Gaza City.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) later issued a statement confirming the strike, claiming that 'terrorists operating from a Hamas command and control centre embedded in the school', which serves as a shelter for the city's residents and is located near a mosque in Al-Daraj and Tuffah area.

The IDF statement added that 'the command and control centre served as a hideout for Hamas terrorists and commanders, from which various attacks were planned', stressing that 'numerous steps were taken to reduce the risk of harm to civilians, including the use of precision munitions, aerial surveillance and intelligence'.

The Hamas-Israel war erupted after Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

In the enclave, the IDF launched a large-scale campaign of airstrikes and ground incursions, killing at least 39,699 Palestinians and injuring more than 91,722 others as of the time of publication.
