Description

Philonise Floyd, the younger brother of George Floyd, was filmed after giving a testimony on policing practices and law enforcement accountability at the House Judiciary Committee at the US Capitol in Washington, DC on Wednesday.

Accompanied by civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Philonise Floyd came outside to receive the US flag at a terrace on the house side of the Capitol.

Ben Crump, who represents the Floyd family, said: "we want to use George Floyd's death to make something meaningful happen to prevent other deaths."

Following the hearing, Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler called Philonise Floyd's testimony "tremendously emotional" and stressed that it "illustrated the racism in the police and what we have to deal with."

He continued: "the other witnesses didn't have personal stories but they were telling us of the terrible problems we have with police discipline, of the racism, it's endemic to American society which of course we knew."

George Floyd, who died at the hands of police in Minneapolis on May 25, was laid to rest at a funeral in Houston on Tuesday.
