Hundreds gathered to celebrate on what has come to be known as George Floyd Square in Minneapolis on Tuesday after former police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murder in the death of George Floyd in May 2020.

Reverend Jesse Jackson who was in Minneapolis at the time of the verdict attended the rally. Rally-goers started dancing as celebrations continued into the night.

It's about uniting. Coming together as one and justice being served, not just for Black people but for all people across the world," said one protester.

Chauvin was found guilty on all counts including second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of George Floyd, a Black man who died after Chauvin kneeled on his neck and back for more than nine minutes.

Sentencing in this case is expected in around eight weeks, with Chauvin facing up to 75 years in prison.
